Jessica Mills

Writer. Journalist. Creator.

Jessica is a freelance feature writer and monthly columnist with the San Diego Community Newspaper Group for their Mission Times, La Mesa Times and College Times Courier outlets. Based in San Diego, Ca., she connects audiences with relevant and engaging story telling that directly impact various communities.

Jessica is the Arts & Culture Editor for the University of San Diego’s newspaper, the Vista from May 2022-May 2023. She focuses on producing compelling and insightful coverage of a wide range of subjects within the arts, culture and entertainment spaces.

She is an expectant graduate from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and is apart of the Lambda Pi Eta Honors Society. In her senior year, Jessica was the sole recipient of the Excellence in Department Service Award for her outstanding involvement, engagement and participation in department life through the Vista.

Outside of journalism, Jessica enjoys creative writing. She was the winner for the Lindsay J. Cropper Writing Contest for 2022-2023 for her poetry submissions. She also presented her undergraduate research, which focuses on media messages in the rap music genre and its cultivated violence toward women and gender minorities, at the University of San Diego’s Creative Collaborations
